Methodology

Where the data comes from. Every data point comes from a public company announcement: ASX announcements (including ASX price-query responses), company news releases distributed through newswires such as Newsfile and PR Newswire, and trade press summaries of those releases. Each row links to its source. An automated scanner flags candidate sentences, and every flag is reviewed by a person before it is added. Nothing is published automatically.

Labs. A lab is shown only where the company named it in the announcement. Most announcements do not name the lab, so those rows show "not named" and count only toward country figures. Turnaround often differs between locations of the same lab network, so the lab location is shown where stated.

Not affiliated. This site is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any laboratory. Sponsors, if shown, are clearly labelled as sponsors and have no influence on the data or how it is reported.

Types of figure. actual = a turnaround or delay the company has experienced. expected = a company forecast such as "results expected in 4–6 weeks". lab-claimed = a lab's own published turnaround. Country and lab headline figures are the median of actual numeric figures only.

Conversion. We record the company's wording, then convert it: 1 week = 7 days, 1 month = 30 days, and a range uses its midpoint ("6–8 weeks" = 7 weeks). "More than X" is recorded at X and shown with ">". Some companies measure from sample dispatch, some from lab receipt and some from drilling, as noted on the row.

Small samples. Fewer than 3 numeric actual figures is flagged small sample. Treat those as anecdotes, not averages.

Your submissions. Anonymous submissions from the submission form are held for review and are not published automatically. If shown, they will be labelled as user-submitted. Optional emails are used only to follow up on that submission.

Corrections. Found an error? Use the submission form's notes field and include the source link.
